GreenPower Program
PCEC consumer-members can choose to support 100% renewable energy resources through our innovative GreenPower program. Participating in this program means the amount of energy you use every month is accounted for in wind energy generation through the retirement of Renewable Energy Credits by our electric supplier, Associated Electric Cooperative. The program requires a 12 month commitment and costs an additional 1.5 cents per kilowatt-hour used.
There is no noticeable difference in electric service with GreenPower. The renewable energy purchased by the members of Platte-Clay is pooled with other participants from Associated Electric. So while Platte-Clay cannot guarantee that those very electrons a member purchases through the program will be the same ones that flow to your home or business, we can guarantee that the amount purchased will be delivered on our power grid.
