Platte-Clay Electric Takes Additional Steps in Response to COVID-19 Outbreak
Kearney, Mo — Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative today announced it has taken additional steps to protect the health of employees and consumer-members in response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
The co-op’s annual meeting event, originally scheduled for May 7, has been indefinitely postponed in accordance with CDC guidelines on social gatherings. A special meeting will be held at a date to be determined in order to conduct Board of Director elections.
Additionally, the co-op will move non-essential employees to remote work and suspend business travel beginning Tuesday, March 24. PCEC offices will remain closed to the public, and drive-thru and warehouse services will cease for the time being. Payments can still be deposited at the dropboxes located at the Kearney and Platte City offices, completed over the phone or through the online billing portal.
“We are taking action now to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our Northland community,” said Dave Deihl, Platte-Clay’s CEO and General Manager. “These precautions will help ensure we can continue to deliver critical services to our consumer-members through these difficult and uncertain times.”
Dispatch operations will continue with crews deploying remotely to outages as they occur. Linemen will work in isolated, two-person crews to reduce the risk for exposure and ensure the cooperative can continue necessary power line repair work.
